John is a 1993, high honors graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. He earned an MBA in Leadership Studies, and a BBA in Management, both from Baker College of Flint. He has completed all classwork for an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership, with an emphasis in Christian Ministry, from Grand Canyon University, with a dissertation topic dealing with resilience in at risk youth. He has been married since 2005, and is the father of 2 boys, 2 girls, and a pet turtle.
He has also worked in financial services since 2005, especially dedicated to creating solutions for houses of worship- protection and retirement strategies for pastors, key employee coverage for staff, and helping members to leave a legacy.
John currently serves as executive pastor at Church Without Walls Ministries, a nondenominational church in north Flint. He is also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a part of the local CAUTION team (a partnership of Michigan State police with local clergy).
Downtime is typically spent playing basketball. John is player-coach for the church team and plays in various tournaments and leagues. Outside of basketball, playing piano, cooking, tennis, bowling, and board games such as Monopoly are also favorite pastimes.
